Joan M. Manter, Principal
Ms. Manter is the Principal of Manter Consulting, a market planning, market research and market strategy firm. She brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, market research, strategic planning as well as strong specialized expertise in market strategy across many industries with a special focus on health care, service marketing and customer service.Prior to creating Manter Consulting in 1996, Ms. Manter served as Senior Director of Planning, Marketing, and Market Research at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, the flagship tertiary-care component of OhioHealth. She was responsible for the corporate marketing plan and initiated innovative product line and corporate marketing strategies, which contributed to growth in market share and revenue.
In the insurance industry, Ms. Manter created and managed Central Benefits’ first product development/strategic planning and market research department. She was responsible for the corporate strategic plan and product development, marketing strategies for all ancillary insurance products and the market research function at this 19-state mutual insurance company.
As Senior Consulting Associate with Management Horizons, former division of
PricewaterhouseCoopers (now TNS Retail Forward), Ms. Manter conducted industry studies, acquisition studies and other consulting services for firms such as Corning, Marshall Field, Pennsylvania House and United Telephone as well as significant market analyses and acquisition studies.
Ms. Manter has spoken and presented workshops at several national conferences including: American Marketing Association - Academy of Health Services Marketing Conference (New Orleans), Sachs Strategy Sessions (Chicago) and National Conference for Women’s Health (Columbus, Ohio/ Long Beach, California). She is a member of the American Marketing Association, Society for Planning and Marketing, Alliance for Healthcare Strategy and Marketing and the American Hospital Association’s Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.
Ms. Manter has a Bachelor of Arts from Ohio University and a Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University. She has held Assistant Professorships or Adjunct Faculty designations in business and marketing at Otterbein College, Marion Technical College and Franklin University and is currently a continuing marketing professor at Ohio Wesleyan University (since 2000). She serves on the marketing advisory committee of Columbus State Community College and is a graduate of Leadership Columbus.
